The forum started their monthly meetings in 2003 and emphases on the communication with the surrounding communities and how to improve  even further questions regarding security, safety and environment. On the 30th of May the first Annual gathering took place in the Crowne Plaza Hotel in Sohar in the presence of H.E Maqbool bin Ali bin Sultan, Minister of Commerce and Industry and Chairman of Sohar Industrial Port Company SAOC (SIPC).
